A holiday with a dog is something very special: you enjoy time together, experience nature and collect moments that will stay with you. Imagine opening the window in the morning and the fresh North Sea air flooding in. Your dog stands expectantly beside you, ready for his first walk along the dykes. This is exactly the atmosphere we want to give you at the Strandhotel Duhnen – warm, welcoming and soothing. Dogs are very welcome here. So that you and your four-legged friend can enjoy a relaxed stay, we have developed rules that ensure harmonious coexistence. They support the informal atmosphere of our hotel and ensure that all guests feel at ease.

Our dog rules – fair, friendly and enjoyable for everyone

To ensure that your stay runs smoothly, we ask you to follow a few guidelines:

• Dogs live on the 1st and 2nd floor and are house-trained.
• They sleep on their own bed; dog blankets are available from reception.
• Bed, sofa and chairs are reserved for the two-legged friends.
• Dogs behave quietly so that other guests are not disturbed

• While you are having breakfast or dining in the restaurant, your dog will stay in your room.
• In the hotel, dogs are always accompanied and are kept on a lead.
• The room cleaning staff are welcomed and allowed to work undisturbed.
• Dogs are social and feel comfortable in contact with people and other dogs

• Please note: Dogs are not allowed on the beach in Duhnen.

These instructions are based on many years of experience and will ensure you have a carefree and pleasant stay. In the event of damage or complex special cleaning, we ask for your understanding for possible additional costs.

Behind the dykes, you will find a landscape that is perfect for walking your dog: wide paths, salty air and impressive views of the Wadden Sea, North Sea and coast. While your four-legged friend sniffs curiously, you can immerse yourself in the relaxed atmosphere of Cuxhaven. Afterwards, you return to your cosy room, where your dog can relax in its place while you enjoy the sea view. A special moment: the friendly greeting from our hotel dog Bonny, who welcomes new four-legged guests with charming composure. Cuxhaven also offers several attractive areas for dogs, including the Sahlenburg dog beach, various green beaches, designated dog meadows and kilometres of dyke paths. There are dog toilets with bag dispensers along the coast, which contribute to a clean environment.
