Awards for environmentally conscious and sustainable behaviour

Love of home. Responsibility. Future.

Our hotel has been inextricably linked to the nature of the Cuxhaven coast since 1896. As a partner hotel of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Lower Saxony Wadden Sea, we bear responsibility – for our unique environment, for the people who work and live here and for all generations to come. For us, sustainability is not a short-lived measure, but a lived value proposition: acting consciously, protecting resources, improving quality and strengthening regional cycles.

Together with our guests, we create a piece of the future every day – mindful, clear and full of love for our homeland.

Efficient use of energy is a central component of our sustainability strategy.
We generate a large proportion of our electricity ourselves with two cogeneration units and a photovoltaic system.
Intelligent energy systems, comprehensive heat recovery and behaviour-optimised processes also ensure that heat, water and electricity are used efficiently and saved in all areas of the house.

As an official National Park Partner of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea, we stand for active nature conservation, regional responsibility and environmentally conscious business.
The unique nature of the Wadden Sea has always characterised our hotel – and we help to protect it: through education, cooperation, resource-saving processes and transparent communication. The award of the DEHOGA environmental check in gold emphasises this claim.

In the restaurantFour Seasons”, regional cuisine takes centre stage. Our kitchen crew consciously focuses on fresh, seasonal products from the local region – including short delivery routes, close partnerships and first-class quality.
This is what sustainability tastes like: fine, North German, authentic.

Promoting sustainable travel is a matter close to our hearts.
There are therefore e-charging stations available on our premises where you can charge your electric car conveniently during your stay – easily, safely and environmentally friendly.

Sometimes acting sustainably is quite simple: with the Green Option, our guests can choose not to have their room cleaned when it is not needed.
The olive green card on the room door signals to our housekeeping: today we are consciously doing “nothing” – and saving water, energy and cleaning agents together.

In our sustainability narrative, we set out what is important to us, what goals we pursue and how we understand sustainability as a promise of quality.
It serves as a guide for our team and as a transparent basis for guests and partners. Our management or our sustainability team will be happy to answer any questions at any time.

The sustainable dialogue with our guests is a valuable part of what we do.
Many of them bring ideas with them, give us tips or take suggestions home with them.
This is how we work together to create a community in which numerous small impulses become a big picture – for a responsible and sustainable travel experience.

Our highest honour for sustainable action

We are proud to have been awarded the DEHOGA Environmental Check in Gold – the highest level of this prestigious sustainability seal. This honour confirms our continuous commitment in the areas of energy efficiency, waste avoidance, water consumption, regionality and socio-ecological responsibility. For us, it is both an incentive and an obligation: we will continue to learn, optimise and think ahead – for a sustainable future on the North Sea coast and a hotel that will continue to do justice to its home tomorrow.
