Golf, wind and a great atmosphere in Oxstedt

Tough conditions and strong performances at “Hohe Klint”

The 26th Strandhotel Duhnen Cup attracted 68 golfers to the ‘Hohe Klint’ coastal golf club in Oxstedt on Sunday, 5 July 2026. Under overcast skies and with brisk north-westerly winds, the cheerful participants faced challenging playing conditions. Nevertheless, sporting ambition, fairness and the joy of sharing the golfing experience took centre stage.

At 11 am sharp, the diverse field of participants teed off simultaneously in a shotgun start for the 18-hole Stableford round. The steady wind demanded precise shots and a clever course strategy, whilst the superbly prepared course provided the ideal conditions for a successful day’s tournament.

Strong performances in the gross and net classifications

In the ladies’ gross classification, Dr Barbara Busch came out on top with 18 points, ahead of Kerstin Janson (13). In the men’s competition, Christopher Janson won with 36 points, ahead of Sebastian Meyer (32).

Strong results were also achieved in the net categories. In Class A (up to HCP 18.7), Torsten Färber won with 40 points, ahead of Sebastian Meyer (39). Class B (HCP 18.8 to 26.5) was won by Andree Wölm with 47 points, ahead of Ralf Kiwit (40). In Class C (handicap 26.6 and over), Christoph Schramm came out on top with 54 points, ahead of Dirk Knauer (39).
Petra Metscher and Sebastian Meyer claimed the Longest Drive. In the Nearest to the Pin competition, Sabine Schmidt (2.95 m) and Hans Bönnen (3.32 m) were the most accurate.

A convivial finale in the clubhouse

After the 18-hole round, the participants first gathered for a varied coastal-style golf buffet in the cosy clubhouse. In a convivial atmosphere, everyone engaged in lively discussions about their finest moments and mishaps before Kristian and Annette Kamp presided over the extensive prize-giving ceremony. In addition to stylish glass trophies, the first- and second-placed players, as well as the winners of the special categories, received attractive vouchers and prizes from Kamp Hotels.

Special thanks went to the service teams at the golf club and the Strandhotel for the professional organisation and running of this now traditional golf event. The hosts were once again very pleased with the 26th edition of the tournament: “A fully booked tournament, sporting highlights and even some drama, coupled with an excellent atmosphere, made this year’s ‘SHD Cup’ yet another all-round success and a highlight of the KGC tournament calendar. This definitely needs to be repeated – and we’ll all meet again at the Hohe Klint on 4 July 2027!” promised Kristian Kamp, before sending his guests off to enjoy a well-deserved evening of golf.
