Gold for sustainable action

The Strandhotel Duhnen has once again received the “DEHOGA Environmental Check” gold award. This once again officially confirms the sustainable and resource-conserving actions of the traditional hotel on the North Sea. For the Kamp family and the entire team, the award is not only a success, but also a valuable incentive to continue on their sustainable path.

With its responsible use of energy, water and waste, the use of efficient technologies and conscious procurement – especially of regional food – the Strandhotel Duhnen sets a clear example for sustainable hospitality. The award shows that high quality standards, economic stability and active environmental protection are not contradictory, but can complement each other perfectly.Hotel director Kristian Kamp explains:

The “DEHOGA Environmental Check” assesses participating establishments in the areas of energy and water consumption, waste generation and purchasing – particularly with regard to regional products. The assessment is carried out in the bronze, silver and gold categories using transparent criteria that are individually tailored to the structures of small and medium-sized businesses.

The environmental check was created as part of the energy campaign for the hospitality industry, which was launched in 2006 in collaboration with the Federal Ministry for the Environment.
