Accompany Kalle, an old Duhnen resident, on a fascinating audio walk through more than 100 years of local history. With his North German charm, he takes you to Duhnen’s favourite historical places: from the former pier to the legendary “Monkey Rock” and anecdotes about Robert Dohrmann, the founder of the seaside resort of Duhnen.

A special highlight is Station 05, which is dedicated to the origins of our hotel. In 1893, Amandus Mangels recognised the uniqueness of this place. He built a small hotel directly on the mudflats – the origin of the Strandhotel Duhnen. What began as a bold vision back then has shaped the development of Duhnen as a popular North Sea spa resort for generations.

The audio walk “Duhner Geschichte(n)” combines sound, places and contemporary history in a unique way. Throughout the town, signs with QR codes lead directly to the respective audio stations – ideal for a walk in the fresh North Sea air. Thanks to many historical photos and lovingly told stories, you can also immerse yourself in the past from the comfort of your own home – perfect for any winter’s day.
